I live outside the US. Can I still follow the Plan?
Yes. We ship our products worldwide. At last count, we have customers on five continents, and in more than 33 countries. Given that we also receive inquiries from U.S. Government employees, the U.S. Military, and a number of Non-profit organizations, our products find their way to many parts of the planet!

I travel a lot as part of my work. Can I still participate in the Plan?
Yes. We have airline pilots, flight attendants, CEO's, sales men and women, truckers, athletes, and others who travel almost non-stop successfully doing the
Plan all the time. We even have people stationed in the military in war zones who are doing the Plan. You would still need to follow the guidelines of the McCombs Plan as written to get the best results.

I
hear a lot about Candida these days. What is it exactly?
Candida is a form of yeast
that lives in the intestines in everyone. If
there is a healthy balance of “good bacteria” within your
body, the Candida stays in its yeast form in the intestines. If
not, the Candida can mutate into a fungal form, which is
detrimental to your health.
What are some of the signs that I might be experiencing Candida?
There is an extensive list of symptoms in the LifeForce
Book . Common major symptoms include:
Sugar/sweet cravings
Gas/bloating
Fatigue/low energy
Allergies/sinusitis
Acid reflux
Hormonal imbalances
Brain fog/depression
Arthritis
How might I have developed Candida in its detrimental form?
Overgrowth of Candida is one of the side-effects of antibiotics. Once that happens, certain foods can promote continued growth of fungal
Candida. For those who have undergone chemotherapy, this can also create an environment for Candida growth.
Are there tests I can take to see if I have a Candida problem?
There are specific blood tests, stool tests, and saliva tests that can be ordered through a holistic practitioner. However, Blood, Stool, and Saliva tests tend to be unreliable.
Blood Test: Unreliable because the blood can be clean but you still may have systemic Candida.
Stool Test: Unreliable because the stool can show Candida
because it is being eliminated from your body; but you may not have it
systemically.
Saliva Test: The McCombs Center is unaware of a reliable saliva test.
The true test is as simple as this: If you have ever taken an antibiotic at any time in your life, then you have systemic Candida.
I’ve heard the term “Systemic Candidiasis.” Is
that different?
This term refers to the body-wide infestation of the fungal Candida cells.
The initially healthy, round yeast cells found in the intestines
change into fungal cells, most commonly as a result of
antibiotic use. These
mutated fungus cells then push through the wall of the
large and small intestines, entering into the bloodstream.
They then travel throughout the
body and establish themselves in different tissues.
While antibiotics are the main cause of systemic Candidiasis, birth
control pills, steroids, and sugar also help create an
environment for the fungus to colonize and spread throughout the body.
I thought my intestinal flora is supposed to have Candida. Can you explain why the Plan is created to remove it?
Candida normally exists in the digestive tract in its yeast form. When
the beneficial bacterial balance is destroyed through antibiotic use,
the yeast form converts to its invasive fungal form which can spread throughout
the body. The yeast form should be there, but not the fungal form.

How does the Plan work to eradicate Candida?
The world-renowned 16-week plan, developed and refined over the course of 20 years, has four essential elements:
Eradication
Elimination
Detoxification
Regeneration
Eradication
A powerful, high grade initial supplementation (Candida Force) that first kills the existing fungus.
Elimination
A tried and tested
eating plan that eliminates factors that have been promoting growth
of fungus and bad bacteria.
Detoxification
A relaxing, daily cleansing process that supports the body’s largest detoxifying organ—the skin—in
expelling old toxins created by the Candida. Choose between a hot bath, dry
sauna, hot tub, or steam room. Supported with proprietary blended supplements
(Detox Essentials).
Regeneration
A health-boosting pro-biotic supplement phase (Flora
Prime) that reestablishes the normal tissue flora in the digestive
tract and throughout the entire body. Probiotics support
optimal health.
Once reintroduced, these good bacteria establish a barrier that keeps the Candida in check.

YES FOODS
All meats (except pork)
Vegetables
Fruits (except oranges)
Eggs
Brown rice (short or long grain)

Liquid Amino Acids, salt, pepper, etc. (as long as there are no sugars, yeast, or anything not allowed on the Plan.)
We recommend naturally raised and organic foods.
NO FOODS
Anything not in the “YES” group is not on the Plan.
“No” foods include:
All sugars (malts, honey, syrups, alcohol, etc.)

I’ve
read about plans that use Threelac and don't require any dietary changes.
Why does your plan include a food plan?
The McCombs Plan has been
designed and refined to eliminate systemic Candida, detoxify the body,
and restore normal tissue flora.
If you’d
like to try our competitor’s plan (Threelac),
please do. Our experience is that Threelac is unable
to eliminate systemic Candida. (If you want to be scientific,
try Threelac and then
our products and decide for yourself. Let
us know how that
goes!)
It would be the same as dropping
grass seeds in a lawn of weeds and expecting them to grow. Bacteria
is the same way. Bacteria is destroyed by antibiotics and also by fungus.
Each fungal cell produces toxins which destroy bacteria. Many antibiotics
are derived from fungus and synthetically reproduced. I’ve known
some people to say that they've been successful with taking Threelac,
but they still have many fungal problems.
Its appeal for many lies in
its marketing—that you don't
need to change your eating regimen to kill the Candida.
It’s understandable
why that’s attractive. Our research has found that both feeding
Candida and killing it doesn’t get anyone anywhere. It can, however,
double the toxic load in the body.
Are the products in the Plan organic?
All the supplemental elements
are natural. Some are organic and some not. Candida Force is a mild,
natural acid—not organic. The Detox Essentials are not organic.
Flora Prime is all organic.
I understand how the supplements could be important, but is the sweating really that essential?
Yes. The Candida Force blend is so effective that it is only available
to professional health practitioners. Most people have
believed that a die-off reaction is a necessary part of eliminating Candida.
A die-off
reaction happens when you're adding more toxins to a body
that is already overwhelmed with toxins from the Candida. That's why sweating
(detoxification
through the skin) is an important part of the
Plan. In fact, Candida Force is so effective that I don't recommend
anyone do the McCombs Plan unless they’re going to do the sweating.

We have had great success with the McCombs Plan. Is it safe for our children, too?
Certainly. For children ages 4-8, the dosages are adjusted as follows:
Candida Force: 5 capsules 2x/day
Detox Essentials: 4 capsules 2x/day
Flora Prime: 5 capsules 2x/day.
At age 9, kids start taking adult dosage of Candida Force, other dosages as above.
For children under the age of four, work with your healthcare provider.
Dr. McCombs has had some patients start at the age of 3 with
good results.
To order a complete set for children (aged 4-8), click here.

I’m
not a big fan of swallowing pills. Are there other options?
There’s no problem with opening the Detox Essentials capsules and
mixing them with water to swallow. I don’t recommend that for the
Candida Force and Flora Prime. The Candida Force is very acidic and bitter
and the Flora Prime is protected in a capsule to help the good bacteria
survive the stomach acids. The Flora Prime and Candida Force both come
in small capsules. We have had some people who courageously opened the
Candida Force capsules and swallow them, and then swallow water right
away. I don’t encourage that, but they were able to do the Plan
that way.

I
exercise every day and sweat a lot while doing it. Isn’t this
the same as sweating in a sauna or hot bath?
Many people believe that sweating is sweating. During the almost two decades of developing and refining the McCombs Plan, I can tell you that not all forms of sweating are the same, especially where the diet is concerned.
In 15 years, exercise sweating has never worked effectively for anyone doing the Plan, including professional, competitive athletes who exercise at peak levels.
Exercise sweating doesn’t create enough deep core heating of the body. Also, during exercise, the muscular contraction causes a back-flushing of toxins, so you don’t
get an efficient detox.
The plan states that you should
sweat 6 times per week, through either
a sauna, hot bath, steam room, or hot tub. Bikram
Yoga has also been found to work due to the heat of the room during this practice.
Those who have tried to accomplish
this sweating through exercise, wind up with the symptoms that are typical
of a “die-off” reaction. This generally can look like a cold
or flu, with symptoms of lung and sinus congestion, sore throat, fatigue,
etc. A particular symptom or condition that you are dealing with, that
is a result of the over toxic state of the body, may become worse.
An example of this may be chronic
headaches that were getting better, start getting worse again.
Exercise
is a process that primarily involves the Sympathetic Nervous System
(SNS) and there are sweat glands that are under the control of the SNS.
Sitting and resting is a process that primarily involves the Parasympathetic
Nervous System (PNS) and there are sweat glands that are under the control
of the PNS.
The bottom line is that sweating through exercise will not accomplish the same result as sweating through a hot bath or sauna.
Do I need to be concerned about minerals?
It is true that sweating can deplete minerals. If you recognize you
are susceptible to this, you can take Fulvic
Mineral Complex or Concentrated
Trace Minerals.
I heard friends talk about other diets and feeling worse to begin with. Is this a feature of the Plan?
This is not a common result
of the McCombs Plan. This is sometimes also called “die-off”in
reference to any detoxification process that pushes out toxins. If your
body is already toxic, the body gets overloaded and you may experience
symptoms such as lethargy, headaches, etc. People detoxify at different
rates, so symptoms, if any, vary greatly.
Two essential elements limit or eradicate this:
Water intake
Recommended: 1 quart of purified water per 50 lbs. of body weight per day (e.g., 3 quarts of water per day if you weigh 150 lbs).
Sweating
This is one of the four essential elements of the plan. Avoiding it will significantly undermine your experience and increase your likelihood of experiencing unnecessary, uncomfortable die-off symptoms.
Additional Options During the Plan
To support the liver (a major detoxifying organ), you can take milk thistle, artichoke, tumeric, Vitamin E, and vitamin C. Specifically for die-off symptoms, you can also increase your intake of Detox Essentials to 4 capsules, 3 or 4 times a day.
If toxins have been in my body for so long, how is it possible that the Plan gets them out?
Toxins remain in the body because they are fat-soluble. Toxins must be converted to a water-soluble form to be eliminated from the body. The Plan helps the body in its ability to convert fat-soluble toxins to a water-soluble form in order to be eliminated from the body.
I read the Plan is safe for children, does that include the sweating?
Yes. Sweating for kids age 4 and older is same as adults. As for adults, if at any time you feel dizzy, nauseous, or faint, place a cool cloth on the back of your neck or step out of the heat and cool off.
I’m
pregnant. Is this a good time to be on the Plan?
We don’t know of any contraindication of doing the Plan while pregnant.
We have had many infertile women become pregnant in the
course of doing the Plan. As always, we give them the choice
of continuing on with the Plan or picking
it up again after the pregnancy is over. Either way, we
feel it is safe, but we can’t make that decision for others.
I’m
breastfeeding? Is the Plan safe for me, and, more importantly, for
my baby?
Patients who have been breastfeeding
have successfully and safely completed the plan. Candida Force is non-toxic
and doesn’t create any imbalance. Toxins released into the mother’s
body are water soluble, and therefore not released into breast milk.
We have found the Detox Essentials and Flora Prime to be equally as
safe.
The Plan was so effective, I want to keep feeling this healthy! How soon can I do the
Plan again?
It is recommended to maintain
optimum health and prevention that you repeat the Plan once a year.
We also have a daily maintenance
schedule for after the Plan which is:
Candida Force – 4 once a day, at least 20 minutes away
from food and Flora Prime.
Detox Essentials – 2 once a day, at anytime.
Flora Prime – 5 once a day, 20 to 30 minutes before
meals.

What should I do if I am experiencing allergies?
Take out any new foods from your diet for 3 days and then add them back one at a time every 3 days to see if they are causing a reaction

I
have high cholesterol. Is the diet okay for me to do?
Yes.
I have a fungus in my finger/toenails. Can the
Plan help with this?
If the cause is systemic, then
yes it will. About 30-40% of the time this is the case. About 60% of
the time it’s a local problem and then applying Argrisept-L drops directly onto the nail may help.
Have you had patients experience success using the Plan who have skin rashes, facial dermatitis?
We've had great results with skin conditions and, even with very difficult
ones, we always see some improvement. The skin can reflect the health
of the digestive tract. For the minority whose skin might be irritated
during the sweating, we suggest placing a cold rag across the face. Fish
oils can also be very helpful for skin conditions. Ensure that you are using organic soaps, shampoos, etc.

I’m
sensitive to acidic foodstuffs in my stomach. If the Candida Force
is an acid, the plan will not work for me, right?
The carefully blended Candida Force supplement also contains olive oil to address this. The olive oil prevents it from being too acidic.
I sometimes suffer from Rosacea when I sweat. Is there any way I can still do the
Plan?
Yes you can. And know that
you are not alone—there are an estimated 45 million people worldwide
who experience this. If perspiring makes it worse, placing a cool wet
cloth over the face while sweating can offer relief.
I’m on a high-protein, low-carb diet and I’m
pretty healthy. Can the Plan really offer me anything?
Yes, it can offer you a lot. Why? Because most people with Candida cannot absorb protein and many other foods. The
Plan can boost natural Vitamin B synthesis in your body and thus protein absorption.
B Vitamins are synthesized in the intestines. They are responsible for many, many functions in the body and low levels have been associated with many conditions.
My overall health is excellent, but I do suffer from persistent acne. Can the
Plan help me?
Yes it can. Skin problems
are often indicative of a back-up of toxic materials that are not being
eliminated through the body’s systems. This may be being accentuated
by the toxins produced by Candida.
Is focusing so much of a treatment on the intestines really effective? They are only a small part of the body.
60-70% of the cells that make
up your body are in the intestines—more cells in your digestive tract than there are in the entire rest of your body. And if the intestines are inflamed, so is the rest of your body. Most autoimmune diseases start in the intestines. The more inflammation you have in this area, the more likely it is that you’ll
have problems elsewhere in the body. (You may also be amazed to hear
that the combined length of your small and large intestines is about
25 ft!).
What’s
the difference between yeast, mold, and fungus?
Yeast, mold, and fungus all
belong to the broader class of organisms called “Fungus.”
Does Candida Force kill bacteria?
Candida Force just kills fungus; it does not kill bacteria.
What is in the Detox Essentials formula?
The foundational elements in Detox
Essentials are a blend of vitamin C and bioflavonoids, with Echinacea
and Red Clover to help purify the blood. When Echinacea
is blended in a formula, its long-term potency is not
compromised.
Do I have to stick to one particular kind of water?
Not at all—any good filtered
water is allowed on the Plan. Reputable bottle water companies
are Fiji,Volvic, Arrowhead, and Trinity. Reverse osmosis water is also good. The most important note here is to make sure it is filtered and that you are not drinking tap water. Remember to drink one quart of water per every 50 pounds that you weigh each day.
I like taking Vitamin E supplements. Do I need to stop during the plan?
No. In fact, Vitamin E can help support the health of the skin and your
liver during the Plan. Kids can also benefit
from taking a Vitamin E supplement. To review the
Vitamin E product, click
here.
Since these products are taken orally, what percentage of the supplements actually reach the intestines, unchanged by digestive acids, and is that amount sufficient?
Yes, the amounts are sufficient. For over 15 years, in the recommended amounts and dosages, we have fund that the supplements have been effective in helping to eliminate systemic Candida, detoxify the body, and restore normal tissue flora.
I have MS and am concerned about the sweating. I have been cautioned not to get overheated.
This is a frequent question.
Other patients with MS participate in the plan. In fact, Dr. McCombs
has a personal friend who has completed the plan several times—even continuing to sweat when not on the plan. Like anything new, if you’re
not used to sweating,
then you have to work your way up to it. The skin is the body’s
largest detoxification organ. Not using it can slow down detoxification
of the entire body. If you decide to go ahead with the plan, it is recommended
that you get used to the sweating before hand. Start slowly and work
your way up to it.
I’ve
heard that, when increasing water intake, a person tends to gain a
few pounds at the beginning due to water retention and then once our
bodies get used to all the water suddenly start to lose?
Increased water intake is not usually associated with increased water retention. Not sweating, slow bowel movements, and eating the wrong foods may be more likely culprits that lead to water retention.
Can I use only your supplements (Candida Force, Detox Essentials, and Flora Prime) on the
Plan, or can I go with an alternative source?
You are welcome to investigate
and use other sources, however, when you start changing the products,
you can start changing the results. It’s like using Chevy parts
on a Mercedes. If you want to be really scientific about it, you can
try once with our formulas and once with substitutes—let
us know how it goes!
Flora Prime
If you can find something close to the variety of the acidophilus that’s
in the Flora Prime, it may work. Flora Prime has 12 strains.
Previously we used two different brands containing a combined 11
strains. Some of the strains are transient and some are
colonizing, and you’ll want to get both in your product. Most products only have 3-6 strains. Even if you have higher CFUs (Colony-forming units), you still don’t
have as many strains. I can tell you that 11-12 strains has worked well,
less strains not as well.
Detox Essentials
Some people have replaced Detox Essentials with just taking Ester-C, but tend to detoxify less efficiently, and sometimes experience more of a die-off reaction. The Detox Essentials blend contains
Vitamin C plus the herbs that help purify the blood and lymphatics.
Candida Force
There’s no realistic, effective substitute for the Candida Force.
Can I continue taking nutritional supplements while I am on the Plan?
Many patients who come to me are taking numerous supplements, but they may not be of any particular benefit because in the presence of Candida the digestive system tends to be inefficient. So, for many people, these expensive supplements are just passing through the digestive system but the nutrients are not being absorbed. While they aren't harmful, they aren't particularly helpful either.
Are there any conditions that can be harmed by the Plan or which may make the
Plan ineffective?
In general, no condition renders the Plan unsafe and most individuals find that it quickly begins to restore their vitality. However, I have had a few patients who came to me after they had undergone radiation treatments and chemotherapy for cancer.
These individuals were so depleted and underweight that they needed to gain some weight before they went on the Plan, but most people in this kind of situation do very well on the diet and regain their strength more quickly than they (and often their physicians) thought possible.
If you're someone who has had a hard time sweating in the past, I would suggest that you spend one to two weeks doing the sweating regimen before beginning the diet and supplements. This will help to open up the channels of elimination in the body and make for an easier transition into detoxifying the body.
Can I take medications
while on the Plan?
Do not stop taking any medications on your own, without appropriate advice from your healthcare provider. Many patients are able to eliminate certain medications or cut the dosage after they have completed the
Plan because various symptoms and health complaints have disappeared.
The Plan tends to help the body function more efficiently and the body absorbs and uses the nutrients from foods more effectively; this also applies to medications. In addition, the
Plan leads to improvement in your body's detoxification processes and patients often report fewer and less severe side effects from medications.
Ideally, your primary healthcare provider will note that prior health problems are alleviated and, therefore, medications are unnecessary and, eventually, the bottles of prescription medications that have become a part of your life become a thing of the past. I have seen this transformation take place many times.
Do you recommend exercise as part of the Plan?
As we all know, exercise is good for body, mind, and spirit. Of course, we want you to engage in some form of exercise. However, Dr. McCombs does not prescribe it because many people come to the Plan with so many health complaints that the first priority is completing the steps of the Plan.
Exercise does not necessarily enhance the detoxification process. Sweating
associated with exercise is not the same as sweating in a sauna or hot
bath. Many people attempt to substitute exercise for the hot baths or
sauna and soon complain of cold and flu symptoms.
People usually become more active when they feel better, and because virtually every healthcare professional believes that exercise is part of a healthy lifestyle, almost all customers eventually make some form of exercise a part of their lives. When you choose an exercise activity, make sure it is something you enjoy. As you probably know, good intentions are not enough to keep you involved in an exercise program that you dislike or that is just too dull to keep you motivated.

I want to add a Colon Cleanse while I am on the
Plan, is this OK?
An herbal colon cleanser is fine to take while on the Plan. If you are experiencing slow bowel movements, it will
be helpful. Initial recommended dosage is two (2) at night
and one (1) in the morning. Then adjust, depending on the
results. Taking concentrated trace
minerals can be
another way to keep the bowels moving and replace minerals
that may be lost during sweating.
Do I have to use special soaps and other bathroom products while on the
Plan?
No. Nevertheless, using organic
shampoos, soaps, conditioners, lotions, etc. can benefit the health
of the skin—and thus detoxification. Shower filters are also
beneficial. Our research shows colonics to be very beneficial in cases
of significant skin problems.
